Experimental Windows version

I’ve just ZIPped up the experimental version for Windows. Give it a try. It’s buggy but it works. Notes:

  • There’s a debug window that opens
  • You need to have Skype already running when you start Skype Call Recorder, otherwise it won’t connect
  • “Browse previous Calls” doesn’t work
  • Files are stored in %USERPROFILE%\Skype Calls

Hope it works for someone.

I’m traing similar software on Windows, i’m a linux user and it’s great…i think your principal task is get your first stable in windows.

Thanks to help get Better World!

  2. Vlad says:

Thanks for perfect program. I’m lerning English via Skype and it help me much. When I would find some bugs I will get feedback to you.

  3. Thanks jlh for making this available.

    Yes, it works for me.

Windows XP / SP3 on elderly IBM Thinkpad R51.
    Skype 4.2.0.162 then 4.2.0.187

The process for use is helpful and unobtrusive. I look forward to using it more.

  4. Anatoly says:

I recorded a call to echo on Vista SP2 Skype 4.2.0.169

  5. Travis says:

I’m using the linux version in a 3 person conversation. The other 2 are on Windows using a free skype mp3 recording program, and I’m recording in WAV PCM. The quality of theirs is abysmal by comparison. Being able to have them using your program and get everything in the same format and quality will be great thanks! :)

  6. Mo says:

Buggy or not, it does work and it saved me some coughing up money for an alternative.

  7. tie says:

Works here on Windows 7, though I get no response when I righ/left-click on the systray icon (I’ve had the same problem with other Skype recording extensions, so the problem is likely on my side). Anyway, just wanted to say – great product, keep it up!

  8. AlekseyK says:

No, does not work correctly in newest Skype versions, especially in conference calls, hangs frequently. In Linux works fine in all variants.

  9. Y says:

Works fine witn winXP SP3 and Skype 5.0.0.156

    Thanks!

Is there a way to *not* have the debug window run the whole time?

  10. egit123 says:

Good product. It records but as stated above the icon on the system tray in windows7 does not work (it actually worked only once to me) so I cannot change the properties.

  11. Matthew says:

Does this work with a conference call? Is it possible to record each individual member of the conference to a different channel/file?

    ~These features would be super

  12. ckny says:

I’M on windows 7 64 bit. Technically it seems to work, but right mouse clock on status tray only shows a transparent window (no content inside) and the pop-up window after a call gets recorded does not allow to press any of the buttons (behaves like frozen, but actually isn’t).
So the potential is fully there …. just needs some little finetuning and bugfixing

  13. SimonT says:

Just tried this out on Win 7 x64. The system tray menu wasn’t displaying properly (I could only see the shadow of the popup menu) but I could still click where a menu entry should be and it worked – this allowed me to pull up the settings and enable the alternative windowed menu.

Just recently I recorded a call (start to finish), then tried to record another call and the second call did not start recording – the program somewhat locked up.

That being said, the for a experimental version it works surprisingly well.

Thanks so much for providing us with this open source solution.

  14. Anatoly says:

Works with Skype 5.1.0.122 too. Windows Vista SP2 32 bit.

  15. Dave says:

Didn’t work with Win 7. Pop up window shows (Not Responding) like ckny says, but when test recording, CLI writes: 2011-04-04 16:20:33 SKYPE <– CALL 34669 DURATION 50… etc. but then ends with "FAILUREREASON 14" . Does work on Ubuntu 10.10. Good potential.

  16. John says:

I’ve been a loyal supporter of your Linux SCR for a few years now, and I’m excited to see it finally come to Windows. Many thanks!

  17. zstand says:

Is the windows version open source? If so, where can I find it?
    Thanks!

  18. Sarckz says:

Thank you, it works and I don’t see any bug atm :D

  19. robert says:

Thank you, it is a great software…all the best!!!

  20. Andrey says:

    Doesn’t work for me(
    Win7 x64, SP1.
nothing happens on call – no any notification (I chose “ask for every call”) and moreover click in tray menu is completely transparent)

  21. tonychenchenchen says:

Skype Recorder is a convenient software for users to record skype calls,it records your conversations automatically once the conversation begins.Details,see:http://www.skype-record.com

  22. ritazhang says:

good to know about it,but it is less functional than AthTek Skype Recorder.http://www.skype-record.com

  23. Alessandro says:

Any chance you’ll bring this alpha version up to date with the Ubuntu one? It would be great! Thanks a lot for your precious work.

  24. Migue says:

    Hi Folks!

I’m having the following problem when I run the software:

    Can’t open ‘C:/Users/…/.skypecallrecorder.rc’ for load

    Any advice? Thanks in advance!
    Migue

  25. Sepero says:

The program no longer seems to work with the latest updates to the Skype network.

  26. Alonso says:

Works great at W8, thanks for making it possible.

  27. Pouliot says:

Skype could be a peer-to-peer communications application, which implies that it depends on computers having the ability to directly send info to at least one another over the web. Will you please tell me that How to do recording in Skype?

  28. Ian says:

Thanks for your work! It records fine at least with my oldest, still working Skype version – 6.14.0.104 It would be great though if you (or anybody else knowledgeable enough) could make new Windowze build out of the latest source code. Best Regards to all, Ian
